Nicole

My name is Nicole and I am
25 years old. I got married in January 2002 and I have 6 month old baby
boy. I was diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer about a month after I
had my son. Being 25 years old, early detection was impossible being that
women start getting mammograms when they are 40yrs. old. I never had a
lump, the lump appeared at the end of my pregnancy and it was too late
because my high estrogen levels from the pregnancy spread the disease.
The cancer had metastasized to my spine, bones (spine, ribs, pelvis), and
liver. My recent catscan showed that the cancer in my liver is gone. It
is very hard to deal with the fact that I have breast cancer being that
I have a beautiful baby boy, a great husband and a wonderful family who
are always there for me.
Five months after my diagnosis my mother went for a routine mammogram
and was diagnosed with breast cancer. She does not yet know what stage
she is in. She is currently going for tests. This has changed our lives
dramatically. I haven't even been married a year and so much has happened
that most people don't even go through in an entire lifetime.
My last cat scan showed that the cancer in my liver is gone. My liver
is considered to be functioning normal. I just want to say that having
Stage IV Breast Cancer is not going to stop me from going on and doing
what I have to do. Positive thinking is the key to battling Breast Cancer.
Please pray for us, pray that we will get through this because I really
want to see my son grow up. This is my story and I'm sharing it because
I want others who are suffering to know that they are not alone. I just
wanted to tell everyone who is going through this to just be strong and
stay positive, and we will beat this!!!! God Bless and Good Luck.
