I am trying to learn as much
as I can about Breast Cancer and personally have never known the pain.
I have had several maternal family members that have had Breast Cancer,
my grandmother died of Breast Cancer one year being diagnosed but she also
had tons of other medical problems so it was missed until to late. Also
at her age (80) she wouldn't let them treat her for the cancer...wonderful
little woman and said she came in this world with two breasts and would
leave it with two.
Also had a second cousin that had Breast Cancer, was diagnosed early
had the lump removed...that was years ago and has never had any other
signs.
I have had several friends plus my Mentor and best friend who died after
a ten year struggle...she was cancer free for five years and on that
checkup they found the cancer had come back with a vengence...I never
got to tell her good-bye or thank her for all she had done for me...I
know she knew but I regret waiting and not telling her when I had the
chance...I always thought she would be there because she had won once
and she was so strong that she would do it again.
But I know now that this War is not about being strong or weak...so
I need to learn everything I can and try to find ways to help and be
supportive.
Now I try to make sure that my friends and family know today and everyday
what I feel because you can't count on tomorrow with Breast Cancer...I
also want to know everything I can so I can pass it on to my daughter
and grandchildren...maybe with my help we can find resources, help and
a cure....
