My wife, Marty, has metastatic
breast cancer. She was first diagnosed in 95 and had a radical mastectomy
and 6 months of chemo. She had no recurrence for 6 years. In June 2001
she was diagnosed with two large tumors in the lining of her right lung
growing through her chest wall, a partially collapsed lung, and lots of
fluid around her lung. I read the literature on this diagnosis and the
medical profession gave her no hope other than to try to keep her alive
for a few years
and
maybe something would come along to help her.
I went on the internet to look for alternative treatment. I found many,
but there were two that seemed to me to have helped some people with
Stage IV cancer. I got Marty to start taking these two alternatives as
well as the chemo and Femara prescribed by the oncologist. In three months,
her CT scan showed the fist size tumors were gone, her lung was inflated,
and most of the fluid around her lung was gone. Her cancer markers went
from 358 to less than 100. She stopped chemo after four treatments because
she was doing so well. One year after the second diagnosis, her white
count is still low from the chemo, but she is doing well. Her cancer
marker is 12.
What has helped her? The chemo, Femara, alternatives, prayer? I don't
know, but it may be worthwhile to check out some of the alternatives
as well as follow the oncologist's recommendations.
The other factor in Marty doing so well is prayer.
We are Christians and many people have been praying for her. If you would
like to know
more about Marty's journey with her cancer, I have put an audio of her
testimony on the web at www.lifeandhope.com.
