Organic Foods

Alternative Treatments | Supplements | Therapy | MGN 3 | Soy
Organic foods are fruits and vegetables that are minimally processed and grown
without using pesticides. The lack of synthetic pesticidal residues on organically grown produce
definitely makes for a safer product.
The National Organic Standards Board defined "certified organic" in April 1995
as follows: "Organic" is a labeling term that denotes products produced under the authority of the
Organic Foods Production Act. The principal guidelines for organic production are to use materials
and practices that enhance the ecological balance of natural systems and that integrate the parts
of the farming system into an ecological whole.
Organic agriculture practices cannot ensure that
products are completely free of residues; however, methods are used
to minimize pollution from air, soil and water. Organic food handlers,
processors and retailers adhere to standards that maintain the integrity
of organic agricultural products. The primary goal of organic agriculture
is to optimize the health and productivity of interdependent communities
of soil life, plants, animals and people."
Since pesticides and additives have been known to
produce cancer, you should try to stick to "organic foods" as much as possible.
Because the medical community has not embraced naturopathy
and alternative therapies, statistics on the efficacy of particular
treatments are often hard to come by and leave room for fraud and doubt.
It is our wish that traditional/western medicine would be more open
to complementary therapies and that these would be researched, studied
and covered by insurance!
